"When
thermal stresses are present in a piece of equipment, the natural
frequency will be different than it would be in a relaxed state.
When these stresses are relieved or removed, either by applying
heat and then slow cooling or by using the Meta-Lax equipment,
the natural frequency will change, and you can tell that the stresses
are not present when further stress removing measures fail to
produce a change in the natural frequency."
